Eirini Stavropoulou (or Irene) is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation from the University of Kentucky (USA), where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar and served as both a research and teaching assistant. She also holds a five-year Diploma in Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering from NTUA.
Before her studies in the United States, Eirini worked as a research associate in the Laboratory of Transportation Engineering at NTUA, and during her time at the University of Kentucky, she conducted research at the Kentucky Transportation Center. Her research focuses on sustainable and equitable transportation systems, including the development of a Complete Streets evaluation tool currently used by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to prioritize projects that benefit local communities.
Eirini has presented her work at major international conferences, including twice at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting, and has published several peer-reviewed journal articles. Her research has received more than 100 citations and has been recognized with multiple distinctions, including the Young Researcher Award at the CSUM 2022 Conference, the “Christos Papakyriakopoulos” Award for excellence in mathematics, and the “Dimitrios Lampadarios” Award from the Academy of Athens for academic excellence in Geodesy. Most recently, she was honored with the Outstanding Master’s Student Award from the College of Engineering at the University of Kentucky.
In addition to her academic achievements, Eirini has been actively involved in community service and intercultural exchange, supporting students and fostering mutual understanding through the Fulbright program.
