Road construction

Studies of roads, tunnels and earthworks, and design guidelines used in practice in Greece and abroad.

Road engineering is at the core of the laboratory's activity. Members take part in road design studies and advise public and private bodies on geometric design, signing and the safe operation of roads.

They also contribute to technical guidelines and regulatory frameworks, so that new designs rest on shared, well-documented rules.

Indicative activities

  • Studies of roads, tunnels and earthworks in Greece and abroad.
  • Design guidelines for road works (OMOE-X, D, KOD, LKO) and guidelines for local roads.
  • Guidelines for vertical and horizontal marking, and the signing and safety study of Attiki Odos.
  • Guidelines for heavy vehicle control stations and intercity bus stop infrastructure.
