Transport systems design

Models and studies for designing transport systems, from city to national scale, so that decisions rest on data.

Transport systems design looks at how people and goods move and which interventions really improve accessibility, quality of life and the environment. The laboratory builds and applies transport models at every scale, from a neighbourhood or a city to whole countries.

The members' experience covers strategic plans, macroscopic and microscopic simulation models, sustainable urban mobility plans and impact studies in national and international programmes.

Indicative activities

  • Strategic planning of transport systems, such as the Strategic Transport Plan of Montenegro.
  • Large-scale macroscopic transport models, including cities in Asia (Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad), and the update of the Athens model.
  • Medium-scale models for Greek cities and municipalities.
  • Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans in Greek cities.
